About

Over 150 Years of Ministry

In 1874, Father Theo Meershaert wrote to Bishop Elder that a church had been built in Delisle, MS. This is the first record of a church at Wolf River. Our Lady of Good Hope is born. The church was destroyed by fire in 1905 and rebuilt by Father Sorin. In August of 1969, Hurricane Camille destroys the church a second time. In 1973, St Stephen’s status is changed from mission to the main church for the Catholic Church of Delisle. In 2006, Bishop Rodi approves a request to build a parish facility at the present location. In 2010 construction began and Most Holy Trinity opened in 2011. In 2014, Father Paddy Mockler was installed as our Pastor.

Baptisms

The Catholic Church refers to baptism as a “sacrament of initiation.” Sacraments are comprised of actions that are more than merely symbolic. Rather, sacraments provide a visible sign which make present God’s grace in a particular way. In other words, sacraments provide visible actions that help us to see the saving action of God.
